Bob's Genealogy Filing Cabinet II

The Pamunkey Hendrick Family
"Pamunkey Hendrick" refers to descendants of Hance Hendrick, an early immigrant to Virginia who settled in Pamunkey Neck of King William County.  He was the progenitor of a vast and often confusing array of descendants who comprised virtually all persons named Hendrick in colonial Virginia.  By the early 1800s, his numerous descendants had spread into Georgia, North and South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Alabama, and Mississippi.

A Four-Generation Genealogy

The Pamunkey Hendrick Family

Version 2 (Sept 2004)

This is a narrative genealogy of the first four generations of the Hendrick family in the form of an electronic book of approximately 125 printed pages.  It can be downloaded, searched, or printed using the free version of Acrobat Reader

I intend to produce revised editions of this book as new information is incorporated.  Electronic books have the enormous advantage of being easily revised.  As this document is edited, and new information added, portions of the genealogy may change significantly.

If you prefer, you can look at the individual "chapters" of this book a smaller files.  (Be warned, though, that each chapter contains references to individuals and records covered in other chapters.)

Introduction & Chapter 1:  Hance Hendrick

Chapter 2:  The Line of Adolphus Hendrick

Chapter 3:  The Line of Hance Hendrick II

Chapter 4:  The Line of Benjamin Hendrick

Chapter 5:  The Line of William Hendrick

The Hendrick Chronicles -- a compilation of records 1699-1800 (and beyond)
The Chronicles is a chronologically-arranged compilation of the records on which the above genealogy is based.   Sources are cited, and in many cases the records are annotated with helpful explanatory comments.  You can download all the records by clicking on the large master file below.

Pamunkey Hendrick Chronicles

Version 2 (Sept 2004)

This edition contains records through 1800, with a modest number of post-1800 records relating mainly to the third and fourth generations.   The file above is roughly 235 printed pages.

The large Chronicles file at left can be viewed in smaller segments (about 30-40 pages per segment)  by clicking on the links below:

Genealogies are only as complete and accurate as the underlying records on which they're based.  These records are by no means complete, for several geographies and records types remain largely unexplored..  I hope that others will contribute additional records from their own research.

Please let me know if you have records to add, errors to point out, or friendly arguments to pursue.  I will update all these files as new information is discovered.
